(Like most of you i don't have overly large amounts of time to play video games, even though i once did)
As of 09-09-2009 Dungeons and Dragons online Unlimited has been made free, subtracting the weird new race and the monk class, i'd say thats a good deal for any RPG fanatic.
Though i have not played the pen / paper game that much and when i did it was 3rd edition. I have played through the Baulders gate and Icewind dale series. both i recommend play ASAP. i am acustom to the D&D universe and enjoy a casual mmo now and again (not wow,.. tried it loved it for a year. hate it now) but my Adiction for Ultima Online rages on. ugh,.. getting off topic. e-hem. where was i.. oh yes.
D&DO:U though hefty in size (high resolution version) was still easy to pick up for the beginner to modern age gamer. it starts you out with a simple to understand tutorial and even though i didn't read many the tool-tips were helpful and not annoying. I believe my main attraction to this game is the feel it has of the D&D ruleset of course but my character that i rolled feels like my main barbarian tank from icewind dale 2 an instant hit for me via memorys of moving my 6 party members along a 2d surface.. back on topic.
if you have the extra time, space, and pc performance i'd suggest giving it a shot. Combat feels Hack/slash but can also be tactical if you have the right group members and the details in quests and story are flawless. there is eve a voice that Emotes for you verbally (voice over) of what you hear smell or feel as you progress through a dungeon, tavern, grassland, esc.
I will be replying to this post with more information as i progress more though my journey of D&DO:U
feel free to reply and i hope to be keeping regular updates.
